Linebacker Telvin Smith didn’t play in the NFL last year. Though he didn’t officially retire, Smith said he needed time away from the game. to spend time with his family and get healthy The Jacksonville Jaguars retained his rights, but put him on their reserved/retired list.
However, it may be fair to question if the time away Smith said he needed accomplished the stated goal.
Smith was charged and arrested Wednesday on a felony count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

According to reports, the 29-year-old Smith, a second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press in 2017, had sex with a 17-year-old girl on several occasions and told the girl to refer to him as a “mentor.”
The relationship allegedly began last August. The girl maintains that Smith was aware of her age but kept in regular contact with her, even after he was questioned by police about their relationship in November of 2019.

According to the allegations, Smith gave the girl $100 to keep quiet after they engaged in sexual activities in September.
Smith was charged and arrested, but posted bond to get out of jail on Wednesday.
