Teddy Bridgewater is one of the biggest quarterbacks to hit the free agent market this offseason. While Nick Foles all but secured his next destination heading into free agency, Bridgewater was on the fence with a few options from some teams in need of a quality starter.
Far gone from his devastating knee injuries, Bridgewater showed some flashes of a return to form in his limited stints with the New Orleans Saints last season. Many expected Bridgewater to be able to secure a starting spot in the NFL with just about any new team he signed with. But in an interesting move, Bridgewater elected to stay with the team that gave him another chance after trading for him last season.
He reportedly turned down the Miami Dolphins who were hoping to sign him as their starter.
Following comes from Jane Slater of the NFL Network.
Teddy Bridgewater expected to re-sign with the New Orleans Saints despite a bigger deal on the table from Miami. I’m told Bridgewater values the locker room culture and prospect of one day becoming the Saints starting QB per source informed. #Saints

Outside of his week 17 game to end last season, Bridgewater hasn’t played viable snaps in the NFL since 2015. His injury recovery has been a slow grind to get back to form and those who are fans of the 26-year-old Louisville product might have to wait a little longer to see him on the field. If he’s the true heir apparent to Drew Brees then Teddy is in the right place with the right team and the right coach to get where he needs to go and it could be a win for all sides.
