Swamp Thing, the new series in line for the DC streaming service has cast Henderson Wade (known from Riverdale) as Matt Cable. The show follows the already airing Titans and the upcoming Doom Patrol series as the few flagship series to set off the DC streaming universe. Matt Cable will be a recurring character, who is a Louisana lawman that is tasked with protecting Alec Holland (Swamp Thing).
Wade joins the cast of Swamp Thing who earlier announced the addition of Andy Bean (Power) and Derek Mears (Friday the 13th playing the two sides of the title character. Bean plays Alec Holland a biologist that discovers a peculiar illness in relation to his work with the swamp, thus transforming him into Swamp Thing played by Mears. It’s an interesting take to have two different actors play the character, almost reminiscent of The Incredible Hulk series of the past.

Wade is no stranger to playing a person with a badge as he portrayed Sheriff Michael Minetta in the popular series Riverdale. This makes it no surprise that he is taken a role of this caliber as he has the experience to play it well. Swamp Thing looks to bring the Alan More run of the comics to life as they draw inspiration from it and look to push the boundaries.
“This is one, when you talked earlier about the rating for The Nun, we always set out to make Swamp Thing as hard R as we could and go graphic with the violence, with the adult themes and make it as scary as possible,” producer Gary Dauberman explained in a recent interview. With Titans already a very edgy show it will be gripping to see how Swamp Thing follows in its footsteps and delves more into horror.
Swamp Thing is expected to debut sometime in 2019 on DC Universe.
