Solange has made a major announcement that will make your holiday weekend that much sweeter. The Grammy-winning singer has announced that she will be diving into the world of art with a new performance piece set to be released in September of this year.
The soulful singer-songwriter made the announcement on Instagram on May 23rd. She wrote, “[I’m] so excited to announce Witness, a special performance piece composed and directed by myself.” The performance piece will debut at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on September 17th. Interested fans can begin collecting their tickets on May 31st.
Witness will not be the first time she has shared her work through performance piece style showing. In 2017, the musician shared Metatronia at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. In addition, she shared Seventy States at Tate Modern in London.
The announcement of this piece comes a month after she cancelled her performance at Coachella. Just days prior to the mega festival, Solange let fans know that she would unable to perform because of major production delays. Hopefully, this performance piece will not meet the same fate.
