2023 four-star combo guard has announced that he will decommit from the USC Trojans and reopen his college recruitment. This is somewhat late in the recruiting process for the 2023 class, but as a top 100 recruit, Demary Jr should have plenty of high-major programs interested him for the 2023-24 college basketball season. This announcement comes after USC senior guard Boogie Ellis announced that he would be returning to the program for his fifth year of eligibility. While it may not have played a factor, 2023 five-star recruit and combo guard Bronny James is also considered to be leaning toward the Trojans for next season.

Silas Demary Jr is currently ranked as the 98th-best prospect and the 14th-best combo guard in the 2023 composite rankings. Some sites have him further up the rankings and as high as the top 60 in the 2023 recruiting class. Before he committed to the USC Trojans he had some serious interest from the Tennessee Volunteers, Alabama Crimson Tide, and home state program, the North Carolina State Wolfpack. While some of these programs may have moved on, some of them and other programs are still likely to show interest in the combo guard. Where he goes next will depend on mutual interest, fit, and role for the upcoming college basketball season.
