Sanjay Shah of Central Park fame has been tapped to lead the animated reboot of Everybody Hates Chris. Shah joins a growing cast that is led by Chris Rock, who will return as the narrator.
As previously noted, Shah is best known for his work on the Apple TV+ series, Central Park. He’s also contributed to series like Fresh Off The Boat, South Park and King of the Hill. Adding on, he has worked as a consultant at Pixar.
CBS is still in the early stages of bringing the popular sitcom back to television. In its initial run, Rock, Tyler James Williams and Paige Hurd helped steer three Emmy Award nominations and one Golden Globe nomination over four seasons. Since the last episode aired in 2009, Everybody Hates Chris has aired on several networks including MTV, VH1 and BET.
CBS has not named the lead voice actors for the series or a projected release date. More details will emerge in the coming weeks.
