SAINt JHN has worked with everyone from Lil’ Uzi Vert to Beyoncé while appearing in major motion pictures and starring in fashion campaigns. However, the fame and success isn’t always what it may seem.
The Brooklyn native’s latest visual, “Circles,” depicts the his toxic relationship with fame and success. Directed by Alex Gargot, the three-minute picture finds the multi-faceted artist surrounded by a gaggle of reporters and photographers surround him with flashing cameras and microphones. Whether its the reflection of a mirror or through the barrel of a gun, every shot of the video gives viewers a circular view of SAINt JHN as he sings about the pressure and ills of fame that have left him in a frantic, unstable state.
“When a square meets a circle, I been tryna make it all fit for you. I ain’t really tryna hurt you. But the walls gotta break, bend the rules. I’ve been runnin’ in circles. I been really tryna hurt myself for you. What am I gonna do?” SAINt JHN desperately asks.
“Circles” follows “Humble” as SAINt JHN’s second single of the year. Building upon the success of his appearance in The Book of Clarence at the start of the year, “Circles” may pave the way for his first solo album in four years. Fingers crossed!
