Ryan Garcia will reportedly challenge Devin Haney for the WBC Super Lightweight Championship on April 20, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada on DAZN Pay-Per-View.
Devin Haney enters the ring with a professional record of 31-0 with 15 knockouts. In 2022, he traveled to Australia and beat George Kambosos twice to claim and defend the undisputed lightweight title. One year later, he beat former lineal lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko and WBC Super Lightweight Champion Regis Progress. While Garcia does not offer any word titles, it will likely be the most commercially viable fight of his professional career thus far.
Ryan Garcia enters the bout with a professional record of 24-1 with 20 knockouts. Garcia ended 2022 with a sixth round knockout of Javier Fortuna. Months later, he suffered his first professional defeat at the hands of Gervonta “Tank” Davis, but bounced back with an eighth round knockout of Oscar Duarte.
“This fight for me means everything,” Garcia wrote on Instagram.
“Pray his dad stops this fight. He will be needed to be carried out if this fight doesn’t get stopped at the appropriate time.”
A win for Haney would set the stage for another major showdown with Teofimo Lopez. Meanwhile, Garcia looks to rebound from his first loss by earning his first world title in a new weight class.
