Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid is thinking about winning his third Super Bowl title on Sunday, not retirement. On Monday, February 5, 2024, the two-time Super Bowl Champion shot down any notion that he’s thinking about retiring after Super Bowl LVIII.
“Am I retiring? Listen, my mom and dad told me this when they were working. They said you’ll know when it’s time…And I’m ready to go right now. Let’s go,” he said.
“That’s what they would tell me when I was young. I was an inquisitive kid, and so that’s the way I look. Somewhere, you’re going to know when it’s time. Today’s not the day.”
Inching toward his 66th birthday, Andy Reid is the oldest head coach in the NFL. Despite his age, Reid nor Chiefs Executive Officer Clark Hunt think he’s ready to put his headset down just yet.
“I’ve heard the same reports that you have and have been surprised to see so many of them out there because I have no sense from Andy that he’s ready to retire,” Hunt added.
“I am not expecting him to retire. He loves what he’s doing. I know he’s energized by the team that he has. I know that he loves coaching Patrick Mahomes. He’s got a generational quarterback…I look forward to having Andy as our head coach for many more years.”
After appearing in four conference championships and one Super Bowl as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Andy Reid has an opportunity to capture his third Super Bowl title as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, February 11.
