Roddy Ricch scores his first Billboard 100 No. 1 hit with “The Box.”
According to Billboard, the song jumped from No. 3 to earn the No. 1 spot. Roddy Ricch also sits atop the Streaming Songs chart, as well as both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Song charts.
This track is not the only chart placement for Roddy Ricch. His debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial returned to the No. 1 placement on Billboard’s 200 chart. Billboard reports the album earned 97,000 equivalent album units for the week, with almost all sales generated by on-demand audio streaming activity.
Roddy Ricch holds the No. 1 spot despite efforts by pop-star Justin Bieber to debut his new single Yummy on top of the charts. Justin Bieber lead a not-so-subtle social media campaign with high hopes for his catchy new song.
Justin Bieber’s efforts did not fail, however. “Yummy” debuts on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart at No. 2, still landing him a top-ten position.
Roddy Ricch is currently in the running for three Grammy awards during the 2020 ceremony. “Racks In The Middle” the collaboration with the late Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy holds two nods for ‘Best Rap Performance’ and ‘Best Rap Song’. “Ballin” with Roddy Ricch and MUSTARD earned a nomination for ‘Best Rap/Sung Performance.’
Roddy Ricch is scheduled to perform during the BUKU Music + Art Project Festival in New Orleans this spring.
