ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith has announced that he will no longer be hosting the Stephen Smith Show on ESPN radio after this week. He made the announcement this afternoon on Twitter prior to starting today’s show.
“I’ll still be around contributing a lot — and there will be a First Take presence — but this will be my last week officially hosting the Stephen A. Smith Show on ESPN Radio,” he wrote.
“Some come holla at me all week long 1-3pm EST. We start roaring in less than 10 min,” he continued.

The announcement comes shortly after Smith reportedly signed a multi-year contract with the network for upwards of $8 million per year. By doing so, he has become the highest paid on-air personality at the network. Moving forward, he will continue to be a part of ESPN’s First Take. He will also host his own SportsCenter on Wednesdays leading into the network’s weekly games. Not to mention, there have been rumors that Skip Bayless may look to reunite with Smith when his contract is up at FOX Sports.
Smith will continue to appear on First Take this week from New Orleans, Louisiana for tonight’s College Football Playoff National Championship between the Clemson Tigers and LSU Tigers.
