Earlier today, ESPN and ABC made headlines when it was revealed that they’re eyeing Peyton Manning to be Jason Witten‘s replacement on Monday Night Football. A few hours later, ESPN and ABC are back with more news regarding their NFL coverage for the upcoming year. Robin Roberts will host ESPN and ABC’s opening night coverage for the 2019 NFL Draft.
As reported by The Wrap, “Roberts will highlight the prospects selected by NFL teams and conduct interviews from an ABC set in Nashville, Tennessee.” Roberts will also join Rece Davis and the ESPN College Game Day crew for additional coverage.
After the announcement, Roberts stated, “As a former college athlete and devoted football fan, I am thrilled to host such an exciting event that honors the hard work and talent of student athletes.” She added, “I’m looking forward to working with my ESPN colleagues again and watching dreams come true!”
Roberts is currently the host of Good Morning America on ABC. Prior to taking on this role, Roberts worked as a local sports reporter and anchor from 1983 to 1990. In 1990, she moved to ESPN where she worked as a sportscaster for fifteen years.
Roberts’ NFL Draft coverage will air on April 25th 2019.
