Rihanna is set to perform at the 95th Annual Academy Awards on March 12, 2023 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. The Super Bowl LVII halftime performer will deliver a performance of “Lift Me Up” from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
Rihanna, Tems and Ludwig Göransson’s “Lift Me Up” is nominated in the “Best Original Song” at the 95th Academy Awards. “Applause” by Dianne Warren, “Hold My Hand” by Lady Gaga and BloodPop and “This Is A Life” from the Everything Everywhere All At Once soundtrack.
“Lift Me Up” is Rihanna’s first solo single released since her 2016 album, Anti. In the seven years since the album was released, she has appeared on “Wild Thoughts” with Bryson Tiller and “Believe It” with PARTYNEXTDOOR.
Rihanna may not have released a new album since 2016, but that has not stopped fans from celebrating her legendary catalog. On February 12, 2023, the global pop star delivered a medley of her greatest hits at halftime of the Super Bowl LVII in Arizona. After helping draw more than 110 million viewers worldwide, streams of her catalog shot up 140% and sales of her tracks spiked 390%.
With two high-profile performances set for the first quarter of 2023, Rihanna has indicated that she has worked on new music, but she has not committed to releasing any new projects in the near future.
“[The] Super Bowl is one thing, but new music another thing. Do you hear that fans? The second that I announced [that I would be performing at the Super Bowl], I said, ‘They’re going to think my album is coming. I need to get to work.’ I do have new music coming out,” she said in November.
“We’ll see. [It’s] unrelated.”
