Rick Ross shares details on working with Drake, Summer Walker and more during a new interview on Amazon’s Rap Rotation.
Releasing Port Of Miami 2 on August 9, 2019, the Florida Rapper reclaimed his position as a “Big Boy rap” icon. The album features collaborations with several artists including the aforementioned Drake and Summer Walker plus, the late Nipsey Hussle, Denzel Curry, Gunplay and more.
In his interview with Amazon’s Rap Rotation Rick Ross shared his thoughts on the processes of working with cemented superstars and rising Hip Hop acts. He shares his thoughts on Drake’s ability to bring different elements to the recording process.
“Drake is an incredible lyricist. [He] crosses over into harmonizing and so many other things. And whenever I do certain collaborations with him, the production is much slower. I always love for him to come in, harmonizing, and then switch over into that whole lyricist that he is. That’s what he did on this feature.” says Rick Ross.
He continues describing what made him choose to feature Summer Walker, a newbie in the world of R&B.
“Summer walker, she caught my eye. I met up with her maybe a year ago. She’s a star. She’s so impressive, yet so quiet. I got the production for the record; I ultimately titled it ‘Summer Reign’ and it’s just a feel good record.”
