From 106th & Park to TRL, video countdown shows have played a major part in building the music culture we have built today. While some of these shows have dissipated or disappeared in recent years, there is always a way to evolve and build something new from these shows that contributed so much to pop culture. In fact, that is precisely what REVOLT plans to do with its new show, Off Top.
REVOLT has announced that it will roll out its newest piece of original content this Friday and it is a new show called Off Top. Led by GRAMMY nominee Rapsody and the legendary Big Tigger, Off Top promises to put a “modern twist on the traditional video series format by showcasing both veteran and emerging hip hop talent.”
“We wanted to create a must-stop destination for hip hop’s most talented emcees to prove why they deserve to be considered among the best lyricists in the game,” REVOLT CEO Detavio Samuels said about the new show.
“It was important that we paired an emcee who represents the best of the present and future with a cultural icon to show what the best of hip hop looks like.”
In addition to highlighting the talents of both Rapsody and Big Tigger, DJ Nayla Symone will also contribute to Off Top. Along the way, the trio will chop it up with talented artists like Conway The Machine, NLE Choppa, Latto, G Herbo, and Lil’ Tjay. Not to mention, the two leading co-hosts also sat down with Culture Editor Ryan Shepard to talk about their new endeavor in an entertaining interview that will debut next week. For now, be on the lookout for the first episode of Off Top on Friday at 9 a.m.
