At 21 years old, most artists aren’t performing on BET and earning co-signs from the likes of 9th Wonder and Rapsody. However, Reuben Vincent isn’t like most artists. Raised by a pair of courageous parents who fled Liberia for Charlotte, Reuben Vincent learned the importance of making the most of every opportunity at an early age.
“Your parents sacrifice for you to have a better life, so there are expectations,” Reuben Vincent said about his upbringing.
“While you’re trying to put on for your country, your ancestors, and your last name, there are all of these barriers; like racism and classism that you encounter as a Black person. But first-generation kids are hustlers. We’re going to get it regardless.”
Carrying the torch for himself, his parents and his six younger siblings, Reuben Vincent puts on for his family every time that he appears on Sway In The Morning, On The Radar, Bars On I-95 or even a Madden NFL soundtrack. Most recently, the Roc Nation signee took his talents down to Atlanta, Georgia for the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards and rapped alongside Guapdad 400, Big Boss Vette and several other rising stars. However, he didn’t stop there.
Fresh off of his latest appearance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, Reuben Vincent is back in the studio and putting the finishing touches on his LP, Love Is War. While fans wait for the album to arrive, the Charlotte artist has offered The Prelude Bundle Pack, a set of eight free-verse tracks. Restoring the feeling of the mixtape era, Vincent raps over Future’s “Love U Better” and several other popular beats. Check out the complete EP below before Love Is War arrives.
