Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson is reportedly set to make her Saturday Night Live debut next month. Brunson will make her debut as the show’s host alongside Lil’ Yachty, who is set to step in as the musical guest.
Brunson has been a force throughout all of pop culture for nearly a decade. From her work at BuzzFeed to creating a show at ABC, she has made her quirky, yet relatable comedic sense an asset to every project she has been a part of. Not to mention, she’s even made guest appearances in music videos for Thundercat and The Internet. Most recently, Brunson’s Abbott Elementary has been recognized at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Golden Globe Awards and NAACP Image Awards.
Brunson’s musical guest, Lil’ Yachty, recently released his fifth studio album, Let’s Start Here. The 14-track project marked a change of musical direction for the Georgia native as he shifted his sound toward alternative rock. The album moved 36,000 units during its first week and debuted ninth on the Billboard 200 chart.
“There’s a lot of kids who haven’t heard any of my references. They don’t know anything about Bon Iver or Pink Floyd or Black Sabbath or James Brown,” he said after releasing the project.
“I wanted to show people a different side of me — and that I can do anything, most importantly.”
Together, Lil’ Yachty and Quinta Brunson will lead Saturday Night Live on April 1, 2023.
