
New Orleans Pelicans point guard Elfrid Payton left the team’s game against the New York Knicks with an injury, just a short time after rehabbing and returning from an ankle ailment. The Pelicans have announced that Payton has been diagnosed with broken finger.

The comeback win against the Knicks was Payton’s first game since October 27th, when he sprained his right ankle. New Orleans has not gotten a lot out of Payton, who has only appeared in six games for his new team after spend last season with the Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns.
New Orleans essentially replaced Rajon Rondo, who left for the Los Angeles Lakers, with Elfrid Payton. The Louisiana-native signed with the Pelicans this past offseason. He has averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists per game in his brief stint in the Bayou.
