Longtime NBA and Team Spain center Pau Gasol has announced his retirement from professional basketball. He retires as a six-time all-star, four-time All-NBA team member, and a two-time NBA Champion. Internationally he retires with two Olympic silver medals and an Olympic bronze medal. He will go down as one of the best basketball players to ever come from and play for Spain. The Los Angeles Lakers have announced that they will retire Gasol’s number 16 jersey at some point in the future.

Pau Gasol will one day be inducted into The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in professional basketball. His two Championships with Kobe Bryant and the Los Angles Lakers will likely be considered his biggest accomplishments in the NBA. While the medals he won for his home country of Spain will also be highly remembered as top accomplishments. Gasol was one of the best big men of his era and the celebration of his career should be welcomed.

In his NBA career, Pau Gasol averaged 17 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He also shot 50.7 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from the three-point line for his career.
