
Kenya Barris has been in the news quite a lot lately. Since signing his multi million dollar deal with Netflix, Barris has ushered in the fifth season of Black-ish, the second season of Grown-ish and the developmental phase of his new Jordin Sparks led drama. Most recently, he’s been added on to the Coming To America sequel and hinted at a prequel to Black-ish. Today, Barris added on to his already long list of projects.
Kenya Barris is behind an upcoming film called The Witches based on Roahl Dahl’s classic novel. The film will be directed by Robert Zemeckis and the first two major casting announcements have been made today. Octavia Spencer and Anne Hathaway will lead the film with Jahzir Bruno and Codie-Lei Eastic in talks to join the cast in the near future. Bruno is believed to be in talks to play the role of the young boy who encounters the witches and Spencer will play the role of his grandmother. Meanwhile, Eastic is being approached for the role of another child who has a run in with the witches.
