NIKECOURT CELEBRATES SERENA WILLIAMS
“I swear I could beat Serena when she playin’ with her left.” Well said, Drake because that is probably the only way anyone could beat someone of Serena Williams caliber. For her last four title victories she has been laced in her own shoe which is dubbed the NikeCourt Flare and will sport a limited edition pair for the upcoming event in New York.
Not only will that be the case, to celebrate her phenomenal run during this summer to further expand her magnificent resume, Nike is releasing this ‘Greatness Collection’. Below is the official press release introducing the collection which entails apparel and footwear.

To celebrate Serena Williams’ incredible summer, merely the latest chapter in her phenomenal career, NikeCourt introduces the “Greatness Collection.” Spanning footwear and apparel, the offering embodies the strength, power and beauty the tennis icon displays on and off the court.
While the inspiration for the collection comes from Williams, its instigation came from NIKE, Inc. President and CEO Mark Parker. Parker has worked closely with Williams over the years; he considers her both a colleague and a friend. Relying on his firsthand knowledge of Williams’ taste in style and design, Parker guided the design team to create items that accurately capture her personality.
The Greatness Collection features three footwear silhouettes: the NikeCourt Flare, NikeCourt Air Max 1 Ultra and NikeCourt Roshe LD-1000. Each shoe features a juxtaposition of Nike Safari and marble prints. The former connects to both Nike DNA and Williams’ penchant for animal prints, while the latter symbolizes her strength.
On the NikeCourt Air Max 1 Ultra and NikeCourt Roshe LD-1000, the prints are applied on a semi-transparent no-sew skin. The uppers of these sport-style shoes also feature premium black leather on the Nike Swoosh, tongue and heel. Each arrives with two sets of laces, aglets and dubrets.
Williams will don the limited edition NikeCourt Flare while on court in New York. She has worn the performance silhouette for her past four major titles.
To complement her on-court look, Williams will sport the NikeCourt Bomber Jacket. A modern take on the classic bomber silhouette, it features a sloping back-to-front hem and taffeta fabric with a slight sheen that nods to New York City’s glitz. The jacket also includes the Serena Williams logo on the center back and two sets of zipper aglets for customization — plus a classically sporty knit collar and ribbing.
The collection’s black and white motif mirrors Williams’ bold, clean off-court style. The athlete’s signature quote, “You are strong, powerful and beautiful,” is printed on the sockliner of the shoes and the inside lining of the jacket.
