“Innovation at Nike is not about dreaming of tomorrow. It’s about accelerating toward it,” says Tinker Hatfield. “We’re able to anticipate the needs of athletes because we know them better than anybody. Sometimes, we deliver a reality before others have even begun to imagine it.”
2016 is the year that Nike finally delivers powered lacing to the general public, not 2015, but this year. During today’s Nike Innovation 2016 the HyperAdapt 1.0 was unveiled and it featured a new system, E.A.R.L. E.A.R.L stands for Electro Adaptive Reactive Lacing, in short, auto-lacing. Tiffany Beers, Nike’s senior innovator says once the wearer places their foot into the HyperAdapt 1.0, E.A.R.L activates.
Soccer star and Nike Athlete, Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the first to try out the shoe. And in the clip below, as Tiffany stated, the E.A.R.L system activates once Cristiano places his foot in the shoe.
