The Toronto Raptors have officially fired Head Coach Nick Nurse and will begin their search for the next Head Coach of the franchise. Despite being an NBA Championship winning Head Coach, since that season the Raptors have failed to build a serious championship contender. There has been some discontent between Nurse and the roster in the past couple of seasons and now it seems that has all finally come to a head. Toronto will keep all of its options open when they officially begin their search for a new Head Coach this offseason.

In five seasons as the Head Coach of the Toronto Raptors, Nick Nurse led the program to an overall record of 227-163. In his first season, with star forward Kawhi Leonard the Raptors under Nurse’s leadership won the NBA Championship. His third season was abysmal while his fourth and fifth seasons were just around average. It seems that the franchise has decided to look elsewhere while Nurse will also likely land on his feet with another team.
Several names will likely be involved with the coaching search, but one major name has already emerged as a potential candidate. Former Boston Celtics Head Coach Ime Udoka has already been mentioned as a serious candidate to potentially replace Nick Nurse in Toronto. He was also listed as a candidate for Atlanta earlier this year, but the team did not move forward with him.
