The cream is starting to rise to the top. As the season progresses, the true contenders are starting to separate themselves from the middle class of teams. For those teams in the middle class, it’s difficult to make determinations on how they will perform on a week-to-week basis. Every team has at least one major flaw and the key to finding value is determining one team’s ability to expose their opponent’s flaw. With that being said, let’s take a look at the Week 8 slate for the NFL Sunday Picks.
Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts (-2.5)
Simply put, this line makes zero sense. With the assumption home teams are given 3 points, this line indicates Vegas believes this game would be a pick-em on a neutral field. With the Titans resounding win over the Chiefs still fresh in bettor’s mind, I would have expected Vegas to tilt the line heavily in Tennessee’s favor. Even with the news that Julio Jones is out on Sunday, this line looks like a trap. Is this Vegas’ way of begging for wagers on Tennessee? Admittedly, Tennesee is a flawed team. Their defense, outside of Harold Landry, has been inconsistent. The passing game comes and goes. The only consistent thing the Titans do well is run the ball. Everything about this game is screaming to take the Titans and the points, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that some things are too good to be true.
PICK- Colts(-2.5)
Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets(+11)
The Bengals aren’t as good as they looked against the Ravens. Or are they? Either way, their defense should be good enough to contain a quarterback making his first career NFL start. Mike White is a relative unknown to most football fans. Even if his talent is unknown, we are pretty certain the rest of the Jets roster stinks. The Bengals should be involved in any and all teasers this coming Sunday. Cincinnati was a must-add to the NFL Sunday Picks this week.
PICK- Bengals (-11)
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns (-4)
Baker Mayfield is back but more importantly, so is Nick Chubb. The Cleveland run game gives them the edge over the Steelers. While Cleveland’s defense has played poorly in recent weeks, Ben Roethlisberger’s inability to throw the ball downfield will be the Steeler’s undoing.
PICK- Browns(-4)
