According to New York Giants General Manager Joe Schoen, the team is planning to move forward with quarterback Daniel Jones. This comes after the quarterback closed out the 2022-23 NFL season with a strong performance. The Giants not only made the NFL Playoffs but won their matchup in the Wild Card Round 31-24 against the Minnesota Vikings. New York’s season came to an end in the Divisional Round after they lost 38-7 to their NFC East rivals the Philadelphia Eagles. Jones was a major reason the team made it that far and it seems he will be the starting quarterback for the team next season.

This season as the quarterback of the New York Giants, Daniel Jones completed 317 passes for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions on 472 attempts. He also rushed the ball 120 times for 708 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. He put up these numbers despite poor offensive line play and the team losing several wide receivers for the season. The team has a fifth-year option on the quarterback for the 2023 season and this sounds like the team plans on picking up that option.
The New York Giants are attempting to build a title contender and to do that they will need a franchise quarterback. They may decide to wait before they sign Daniel Jones to a long-term deal and see how he plays this season. Regardless it appears that the Giants are moving in the right direction.
