In March, Netflix introduced us to an array of different shows that brought the fire. Now, in April, they really start to get the ball rolling with movie releases and Netflix Originals.
The New Netflix Originals Series
Get Down (Season 1- Part 2)
The 1st part of their first season, Get Down has not disappointed Hip Hop fans. The story follows the birth of hip hop in 1970’s New York, through the fictional tale of a hip hop group from the South Bronx called “The Fantastic Four + Five”. Mentored by one of the creators of revolutionary genre, Grandmaster Flash, the group becomes the part of the birth of a new genre in music. It’s stellar soundtrack and star-studded cast are set to return on April 7th.
Sorry White People
Initially, Sorry White People has already received some criticism after it’s 1st trailer, but the Netflix Original show based on the 2013 movie should take the topics of racism and stereotypes head-on and force us to answer some tough questions about our society. Although it’s got some people even cancelling Netflix, we’re going to wait until the April 28th to see if it warrants such a harsh response.
Bill Nye Saves The World
This is the show that I am personally most excited for coming to Netflix this April. BILL NYE IS BACK! The science guy is back with 13 episodes in Bill Nye Saves The World and it’s set to be just like when your science teacher would reel the TV in and tell your class you were going to watch a Bill Nye video, except with even crazier experiments. 13 episodes will be hitting Netflix on April 21st.
Netflix Original Movies of the Month
Sand Castle
Set in Iraq in 2003, we follow a Private in the army, played by Nicholas Hoult, and his trials and tribulations during the Iraq War. He quickly learns about the horrors of war and is sent on a routine mission with soldiers when things go wrong. The cast also features Superman’s Henry Cavil and Expendables Glen Powell and will release April 21st.
Win It All
Jake Johnson (New Girl) stars as small time gambler Eddie Garrett, who agrees to watch a duffel bag for an acquaintance who is heading to prison. When he discovers cash in the bag, he’s unable to resist the temptation and winds up deeply in debt. This is set to be a pretty funny movie as it co-stars Keegan-Michael Key and Joe Lo Truglio, and I’m excited to see what Keegan has to bring to the big screen, now that his partner Jordan Peele just directed a 100 million dollar movie. Win It All is set to release on April 7th.
Louis C.K Stand Up Special

Louis C.K is back on Netflix with another stand-up comedy special. The comedic legend has had quite a few of his shows aired on Netflix and this will be the 4th one. As a fan myself, I’m very excited to see what new material C.K has thought of, and if he’ll talk about the crazy year the world had in 2016. No trailer for the special is out yet, but it is set to get released on April 4th.
