The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) has announced via Twitter that four new Vice Presidents have been elected to serve on the union’s Executive Committee alongside incumbent President Chris Paul of the Houston Rockets.
The newly elected Vice Presidents include Charlotte Hornets center Bismack Biyombo, 2017 Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon of the Milwaukee Bucks, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, and Golden State Warriors veteran forward Andre Iguodala, who has been elected to the role of First Vice President, replacing the outgoing First VP, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James.

Each of the newly elected Vice Presidents will undertake a three-year term from now until 2022, except for Iguodala, who is set to remain in his position until 2023. LeBron James had served in the First Vice President role for four years, having been unanimously elected to the position in 2015. Iguodala had the following to say about his election, per the NBPA’s press release.
“I am honored to be chosen by my peers to step into this position and take on a larger responsibility within the NBPA. I look forward to continuing my work with [Executive Director] Michele [Roberts], Chris Paul and the Executive Committee to accomplish the best possible outcomes for the union and our future members.”
The players union has enjoyed a successful relationship with the NBA in many instances under the tenure of Commissioner Adam Silver, including the two sides re-negotiating the Collective Bargaining Agreement in 2016, and the league collaborating with the NBPA to provide more adequate mental health services to former players.
