Is their new music from Nas on the way? Fans seem to think so.
On Wednesday, July 12, the Queensbridge native cleared out his Instagram account and posted a video of what appears to be a thunderstorm. The video also contains a sound that Instagram identifies as “Back 2 Sin” by Le Drilleur. The unique sound choice has only been used once before on the app in a video that contains a quote from the iconic actor Denzel Washington,
“When you pray for rain, you gotta deal with the mud too,” the quote reads, referencing Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer.
The video and sound choice were cryptic, but fans seem to believe that the rap legend has new music on the way. As a result, they have already taken to the comment section to sound off.
“We’re witnessing the illest run ever in Hip-Hop,” DJ Kerosene wrote.
“Nas is about to flood the streets with great music,” another user wrote.
Nas hasn’t confirmed that a new project is on the way, but he has said that he’s been recording new music recently. During a recent interview, he said that he was “in one of these creative growth spurts” that led to his previous collaborations with Hit-Boy over the last few years. However, he didn’t go into detail as to when or what would come from that creative growth spurt. Either way, Nas fans have been offered more than a few verses from Nas over the last few years. Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in early 2020, he’s dropped four projects with Hit-Boy, appeared on Mass Appeal’s Hip-Hop Vol. 2 EP curated by Swizz Beats and hopped on a track with Tobe Nwigwe for the most recent Transformers movie.
