He’s back!
Nearly four full years since releasing his breakout mixtape, Street Sermons, North Carolina native Morray has announced his next project, Long Story Short. To get the ball rolling on his next release, the GRAMMY-nominated recording artist dropped, “Breakthrough,” a Rob Stovall and Hennen Beats-produced track that reflects the charismatic resiliency fans have come to expect from the North Carolina native.
With an infectious guitar and speaker-rattling bass line, “Breakthrough” is more of a mission statement than a single. Morray opens up about the struggles and challenges that he has overcome throughout the last few years while also encouraging himself and others to keep pushing through no matter the obstacle.
“I’ve learned ways to help myself get through/I’ve had to break through, I thought I was through/I said, “I hate you, talkin’ to myself/So scared to face you, talkin’ ’bout myself,” he sings. “Down for too long, can’t be still, I must move on/Can’t be weak, I must be strong/Can’t let no one string me along/I’ve got myself, I’ll be there if I need help.”
Fans may have met Morray in the early 2020s with hits like “Quicksand” and “My Life,” but he’s ready to begin the next chapter of his career with “Breakthrough.” Check out the single before Long Story Short drops later this year.
