Head Coach Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks have secured the commitment of 2022 top 20 recruit and top five small forward MJ Rice. There seems to be some speculation that he could still decide to play professional basketball out of high school, but for now, he is set to play for the Jayhawks. He committed to the Kansas Jayhawks over the Oklahoma State Cowboys, North Carolina State Wolfpack, and Pittsburgh Panthers. Kansas lands a five-star recruit despite being the subject of an NCAA investigation.

Rice will join two four-star prospects already committed to Kansas in the 2022 recruiting class. Top 30 recruit and top Ten small forward Gradey Dick as well as top 55 recruit and top ten power forward Zuby Ejiofor will be joining Rice in Lawerence next Fall. Head Coach Bill Self continues to bring in talented players to Kansas to help the program win games. If Rice does play for Kansas he should be an immediate starter and impact player for the program. Kansas is still also in on several other talented recruits in the class.

Rice is headed to Kansas for now and he will likely be a “one and done” prospect should he suit up for the Jayhawks. His ultimate goal is to play professional basketball and he picked a program that has more than a fair share of NBA names as alumni. The match could be perfect for the two parties. Kanas gets to win games and Rice can get to the 2023 NBA Draft.
