Louisville has already suffered a tough blow just a week into the preseason practices in losing freshman Mike James. James, a top 80 freshman wasn’t expected to be counted in a major role for the Cardinals this season but does lessen their depth a bit. It will be interesting to see if this opens the door for anyone expected to be outside of the rotation to see some minutes.
Louisville is expected to be a team that can finish in the top four of the ACC this year if the team comes together. Mack will again be relying on a transfer in the backcourt like Carlik Jones last year. Samuell Williamson is expected to take the next step as a junior and plays the position that James was most likely going to earn his minutes at. Williamson being in place was going to allow James to be worked in slowly which will no longer matter now.
Louisville’s Mike James will miss the entire 21-22 season due to a torn achilles tendon, per release.

One would think that James was injured early enough to have no problems getting back and ready for next season. Achilles used to be a 12 month injury but athletes return much quicker and he should rounding into shape just as he’s returning to campus next year.
