Melvin Gordon issued an ultimatum to the Los Angeles Chargers last season, demanding a new contract or to be traded. In the early stages of the season, Austin Ekeler emerged as a starting quality running back for the Chargers, and the holdout ultimately backfired. Now, with the 2019 season over, Gordon has reportedly left the Chargers and is signing with their AFC West rival Denver Broncos, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The deal is reported to be worth $16M over two-years.

A two-time Pro Bowler since being drafted out of the University of Wisconsin in 2015, Gordon will share touches with another Pro Bowl back in Phillip Lindsay. The Broncos new-look offense will look to improve on their 7-9 record from the 2019 season.
