Florida is one of the most dynamic states in Hip-Hop at the moment, producing the likes of Rod Wave, Denzel Curry, Doechii and the City Girls within the span of a few hundred miles. One of the latest additions to Florida’s growing catalog of unique acts is Mellow Rackz, a 21-year-old Florida-based rapper with Haitian roots. The fiery-voiced, lyrically evocative Broward County native is thick skinned and musically bilingual, fluent in autotune-heavy venting over melodic production and delivering aggressively passionate bars of bass-heavy production with the likes of Icewear Vezzo and Lil’ Yachty. Through her ability to build an interested fanbase, co-signs from legends like Lil’ Wayne and Foxy Brown, a few public relationships and a string of promising singles, Mellow Rackz has positioned herself as an artist of interest heading in to 2024.
The Florida native’s first major release of the new year continues the story that she began towards the middle of the previous year. In August 2023, Mellow Rackz unloaded a new track and visual for “Need Me,” a guitar-infused track that blends elements of Rap and Rock as she raps about a relationship turned sour through infidelity and inconsistency. Her first major release of 2024, “Any Chick,” push the emerging artist out of her previous relationship and into a chapter of her life filled with positive affirmations and confidence-boosting allies. Backed by the Mtume-infused production of Grammy award-winning instrumentalist Bigg D, Mellow Rackz employs deeper tone than used in previous releases to deliver a pair of verses chronicling about how she’s stepped up her life in and out of the studio throughout her ascent.
“I ain’t just any b*tch. He don’t have to give me sh*t. I’m gonna be comfortable. I just know that ain’t no other woman comparable,” she raps.
“I’m confident. You mistake it for arrogance. I’m bad with this. P*ssy makes the world spin. And I’m gonna make your n*gga spin.”
Foxy Brown has already offered her support for Mellow Rackz as she enters the next phase of her emerging career. Now, it’s the time for the fans decide how they feel about “Any Chick.” Check out the track and Eastside-directed visual below.
