The offensive coaching staff at the University of Maryland will look a bit different his season.
Earlier this year, former University of Maryland Offensive Coordinator Dan Enos left the Terrapins to take a similar job with the University of Arkansas. In his absence, University of Maryland Head Coach Michael Locksley added Kevin Sumlin to the offensive staff. Now, Locksley and the University of Maryland have hired Josh Gattis. Gattis will work as the team’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Prior to joining the Terrapins up in College Park, Maryland, Gattis spent one season with the Miami Hurricanes, four seasons with the Penn State Nittany Lions, three seasons with the Michigan Wolverines and one season with the University of Alabama. Not to be forgotten, he spent two years in the NFL after playing for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
Gattis is not the only new addition to the University of Maryland coaching staff. Zac Spavital will also join the Big Ten program as a defensive backs coach. Previously, he coached at Texas State, Texas Tech, Houston and Oklahoma.
“The additions of Josh and Zac really bolsters our already strong coaching staff,” Locksley said.
“Josh and I have a strong relationship and a proven track record of working together to produce a potent offense. He and I share many of the same philosophies and it should be a very smooth transition.”
