For those excited about a potential third film in the decade’s spanning ‘Bad Boys‘ franchise, we have bad news. Martin Lawrence recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly and dropped the news. Lawrence stated the following.
“I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out. Will is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen.”
This is sure to be a bummer for fans of the legendary buddy cop franchise but I guess the silver lining is the fact that Lawrence didn’t specifically say it was dead and buried.
Will Smith is, of course, working on multiple projects (Aladdin, Bright, Suicide Squad 2) which makes his availability very limited. Lawrence, on the other hand, hasn’t appeared in a major wide release film since 2011’s ‘Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son‘. It’s honestly kind of hard to believe that Martin hasn’t at least popped up in a supporting role in some shape or form in the past five years but let’s hope he’s just coasting off those ‘Martin’ syndication checks and simply isn’t looking to do things he doesn’t want to do.
We’ll keep you posted on more ‘Bad Boy’s 3’ news when and if it develops.
