The Houston Texans have traded running back Mark Ingram to the New Orleans Saints for undisclosed late-round draft compensation. This trade sends Ingram back to the team that he started his career with and reunites him with his friend and fellow running back Alvin Kamara. New Orleans desperately needed running back depth behind Kamara and add a familiar face while doing just that. Meanwhile the Texans, in full rebuild, add some draft capital.
Details still being finalized, but the trade expected to involve late-round future picks. A bargain addition for the #Saints, who get buddies Ingram and Alvin Kamara together again. https://t.co/6hkL13guEm

Reunion: The #Saints are trading for old friend and current #Texans RB Mark Ingram, per me and @TomPelissero. He fills a big need, landing back in New Orleans to do so.

Mark Ingram first left the Saints to join the Baltimore Ravens until this season. He then joined the Houston Texans where he split carries with several other players. Now he reunites with his former team and joins a potential playoff team this year. Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks voiced his frustration after learning about the trade. It has become obvious the Texans are a franchise in disarray.
*IF* the Texans were to make Brandin Cooks available in a trade, he’d be a valuable/realistic target for several teams because of his salary. He’s due ~$1.5M for the rest of this year.
Hard to find affordable trade targets that would bring as much of an impact as Cooks could.

Alvin Kamara took to Twitter and voiced his excitement after learning he would be reunited with Mark Ingram. The Saints will look to continue to compete and capture an NFC Wildcard spot this season.
