Pay-per-view boxing is back in New York for the first time in a nearly a year. This time around, the main event moves fives pounds down from super lightweight to lightweight as WBA Super Featherweight Champion Lamont Roach Jr. moves up in weight to challenge WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis. While this is the first time that they’ve met in the ring as pros, they’re far from strangers. With Davis becoming a standout amateur in Baltimore, Maryland and Roach Jr. making a name for himself in LeDroit Park, they’ve known each other since they were children. However, a lot has changed since they met as amateurs. Davis has become a dynamic boxer and knockout artist while Roach Jr. has bounced back from a defeat against Jamel Herring to become a force to be reckoned with in the super featherweight division. Davis expected to keep his record unblemished while Roach Jr. plans to spoil his plans and move on to a unification bout with Shakur Stevenson.

Approaching his 35th birthday in April, Williams is still durable, tough and experienced, but it’s hard to see him competing for a world title again in his 10+ year career.
