Not long ago, fans were excited at the prospect of receiving a joint project Lil’ Durk and Lil’ Baby. Then, the duo added to the excitement by sharing a release date for the project, May 27. Shortly thereafter, the dup learned that DMX’s first posthumous release, Exodus, would be arriving on the same day. Out of respect for the Hip-Hop legend, the two decided to push their project back.
After shifting around the release schedule to pay homage to DMX, Lil’ Durk and Lil’ Baby’s joint album, Voice of the Heroes, is back on track. Over the holiday weekend, the two shared the cover art and release a video for the album’s title track. Together, the duo shot the visual in Lil’ Baby’s home neighborhood of Oakland City. Bringing out his hometown, Lil’ Baby raps about the importance of his role in his community and how he can put others around him in a position to win.
“I wasn’t even tryna be no idol/I put n*ggas on, and all of the sudden they feel entitled/Put the barbers on ’em, you only get this kit when you got a title/I’m exhausted, I been workin’ shift to shift, but I keep fightin’/Not my fault if I don’t meet your likeness/And I’m still with Ced still. We the ones for real,” Lil’ Baby raps.
Voice of the Heroes will arrive on streaming platforms this Friday. For now, check out the “Voice of the Heroes” video below.
