As the COVID-19 pandemic has forced much of the world inside, we have shifted toward the familiar, comfortable and for lack of a more comprehensive term, legendary. With music venues closed, festivals postponed and video shoots delayed, fans have turned to the iconic songwriters, producers and artists of our time for entertainment. As a result, Timbaland battled Swizz Beatz and Sean Garrett battled The Dream. Meanwhile, newer artists have continued to put together strong releases. Early on, CHIKA and Jack Harlow dropped solid projects. More recently, Kiana Ledé dropped her debut album with 6LACK and Ari Lennox. Now, Lauren Norstrom is continuing the wave with a new track called “Drip Dry” produced by Tom Misch.
“Drip Dry” serves as the follow-up to her “Love vs. Lust” single from 2019. The South African born artist has made her life in the arts. Growing up in dance and musical theater, Norstrom has been performing since she was 7 years old. With that being said, her first studio single didn’t hit streaming services until last year. Emerging as a new artist with a ton of potential, Nortstrom offers a soothing blend of R&B and Soul. “Drip Dry” is no different.
“You’re caught up in your dreaming/You are all faded in control/You’re jumping in and out of soul/This is what you’re dreaming for/Escaping’s got you sleeping more,” she sings.
“Boy, you’re the dude who drips then dries/Feels healed when you get high/Might not like the feeling when I flip your switch and start the motion,” she continues.
