The No.3 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft injured his hand in the Hornets’ loss 98-125 against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday. On Sunday, he underwent an MRI that revealed a wrist fracture.
The Hornets lose one of their top scorers, behind Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward, with 15.9 points per game, as well as offense creation leading the team with 6.1 assists per game. Ball has been an important piece for the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.
Ball was also the top candidate for the Rookie of The Year Award leading all rookies in steals (1.6) and assists, second in scoring behind Anthony Edwards, and tied for second in rebounds. With the wrist injury, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard has an opening to steal the award with most of the season still left to play.
