After leaving high school to go play professional basketball in Lithuania last year LaMelo Ball is returning this year. Ball who was recently playing in the JBA, his dad, Lavar Ball’s start-up league where he averaged a triple-double is done with that. He is now enrolling at a prep school in Ohio called Spire Institute. The school which Ball is supposed to begin attending in the next few days plays national powerhouse La Lumiere a week from today.

Ball, when he left high school, was the number seven prospect in the class of 2019 and was committed to UCLA. Ball is no longer eligible to play college basketball after signing a contract with his Lithuanian team. At this point in time, the decision was made to help Ball showcase his talents among his more talented peers for scouts for the 2020 draft. His play in the JBA was never going to show scouts anything as the talent level in the league is suspect. Watching his development and where he goes in his post-high school year will be interesting.
