As we all know, D’Antoni has left Staples, which is good for both parties in my view. Lakers need a defensive coach. I’m still one of them people that said they shouldn’t have fired Mike Brown. But I digress.
The hunt for a new coach is on and it’s safe to say they cannot go safe on this one. They need to make a legit headline hiring. And the fact that they’re asking the Bulls if they can interview Tom Thibodeau, is a step in the right direction.
Now on one hand, the Lakers could definitely be better with him at the helm, rebuilding wouldn’t be a two-three year job, they’d be back in the race this time next year.
But Chicago are a little ahead in terms of team evolution. There’s Rose coming back, Boozer possibly getting traded, my boy Taj Gibson will be a starter next year and of course they’re in the front running for Carmelo Anthony (If he leaves NY).
By just reading that paragraph, if I was Tom Thibodeau, I’d give LA a major stiff arm because all they need is some offense and that is Eastern Conference Finals on lock, maybe a Finals appearance.
But then again, it is the Lakers, some coaches dream of coaching the purple & gold. The allure is there. It’s certainly a possibility.
