The Washington Wizards are fully shaking up their roster. Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans are being traded to the Dallas Mavericks for Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round draft pick. The Dallas Mavericks were rumored to be shopping their power forward this past offseason, but the noise around that had quieted down during the season. Dallas now pairs Dinwiddie and Bertans with their young star Luka Doncic. Washington has made several moves with the roster for next season when Bradley Beal is healthy again.
The Wizards will send Davis Bertans in deal too, source tells ESPN. Mavericks send a second-round pick to Wizards. https://t.co/RJdybUd0Lw

The Dallas Mavericks have one job and it is to build around Luka Doncic while also keeping him happy. Seriously competing for NBA Championships with the young star one day is the ultimate goal. Spencer Dinwiddie signed with the Washington Wizards this past offseason and did not even complete a full season with the team. Bradley Beal has expressed his desire to stay with the Wizards and the team is focused on that. Pairing Kristaps Porzingis with him is yet another attempt at finding him a proper second star.
Love to see Spencer Dinwiddie back and playing at a high level ? pic.twitter.com/trVFIAiGSi

The 2022 NBA Trade Deadline has already seen several high-profile deals go down and this doesn’t rank as the biggest one of the day. Dallas is currently seated at fifth in the Western Conference with a 32-23 record on the season. The Wizards are just outside the play-in games at the 11th seed with a 24-29 record. Without Bradley Beal, for the rest of the season, they may very well slip more in the standings.
