Zinger aka PorzinGod aka Kristaps Porzingis is looking to further his brand as a star European forward for the New York Knicks. It has been reported by the good folks at The Vertical, that Kristaps has inked a multi-year footwear and apparel endorsement deal with the three stripes, adidas.
Porzingis has been a Nike athlete up until this point and that was well documented with the consistent usage of Kobe’s signature shoe on-court. As for the adidas deal it is the most lucrative deal for a European player which ranges from $3 Million to $6 Million annually with of course incentive bonuses.
With the 7 foot 3 forward looking to be signed by the likes of Nike, Under Armour and the Chinese brand ANTA, adidas made themselves the front runner to snatch up the future of the New York Knicks. It is also reported that Nike will not be looking to match the offer to keep him under their roster so this deal is as good as done come mid-October.
Expect to see Kristaps laced up in New York Knicks themed adidas basketball sneakers (the Crazy Explosive) come opening night versus the Cavaliers on October 25th. Here is what he had to say about the shoe deal process when speaking with The Vertical, more specifically Nike and adidas who it all came down to;
“All I can say is both Nike and adidas are first-class companies, I would be lucky to align myself with either one. The amount of attention I received was flattering, but right now I am letting my agents handle the business side of things.”
