Retired Lakers star Kobe Bryant is staying busy in his post-career life. From winning an Oscar for his basketball-themed short film to getting a show on ESPN, Bryant has plenty going for him. This October, “author” can be added to the list of titles.
Bryant announced on Twitter that his new book titled “The Mamba Mentality: How I Play” will hit the shelves October 23rd, 2018. The tweet says that the book will delve into how Kobe approached the game and include 20-years worth of pictures. It will also have intros from former teammate Pau Gasol and former head coach Phil Jackson.

Hall of Fame photographer Andrew Bernstein has provided all of the pictures in the book. Bernstein was the Lakers official team photographer and captured the first NBA photograph of Kobe Bryant in 1996.
The description of the book from MCD Books says that “Mamba Mentality” will detail how Bryant approached an opponent and analyzed the game. Essentially, while fans know of the “mamba mentatlity”, this book appears it will delve into how Kobe famously became associated with it.
