The legacy Sean “Diddy” Combs has built through entertainment is beginning to crumble.
Late last year, Combs’s ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, filed a bombshell of lawsuit against the media mogul under the New York Survivors Act. In the lawsuit, Ventura accuses her ex-boyfriend of exhibiting emotionally and physically abusive behavior throughout their relationship. Months later, video of Combs physically assaulting Ventura in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel was shared with CNN and published for the world to see. While Combs has attempted to issue a statement regarding the matter, the damage has been done as he has drawn backlash and condemnation from all corners of the pop culture sphere. Most recently, Howard University revoked his honorary degree and refused to accept his $1 million donation.
As Combs continues to fall from grace, figures from his past have been asked to comment on the matter, including father of his ex-partner and the grandfather of three of his kids, Jake Porter. While speaking to Rolling Stone, Porter expressed nothing but disgust for Combs’s actions toward Ventura.
“You can say I was disgusted with the video, and I wouldn’t treat my enemy like that,” Porter told the outlet’s Nancy Dillion and Cheyenne Roundtree.
“It was despicable…I couldn’t believe it. I was in Vietnam, and I wouldn’t do that to my enemy.”
Porter’s daughter, Kim, dated Combs for several years and gave birth to three of his kids. However, the couple split for good in 2007. During their time together, Porter’s father, Jake, says he never personally saw him assault his daughter, but he does wonder what may have gone on while he wasn’t there.
“I didn’t know he could stoop that low,” Porter continued.
“I imagine it surprised a lot of people. I wouldn’t even do a dog like that. My heart goes out to Cassie.”
