First off, my apologies to those who were looking forward to an entry last week.
But we are back today, Wear Your Kicks Wednesday continues on and we couldn’t be more excited. If you don’t remember, the last entry we received was from Def Pens’ own, Dame as he showcased two pairs of Nike KD 4’s which are definitely considered to be in the top colorways, if I must say so myself.
Well also, I own each of them so I think that basically solidifies that reasoning.
Moving forward, I think I’ll take the wheel this week, it’s been a while and I have a sneaker I wanted to share as it was among one of the many I purchased with my short stint at Foot Locker back in 2011.
So with that being said, lets get right into Kickin’ It With Def Pen: Wear Your Kicks Pt. 28
The Nike Air Penny 3 LE ‘Ripstop’ is one of those purchases that just happened because they were there. Let me explain.
I was currently working at Foot Locker and on this day it was that infamous time of the year where employees get to enjoy that 50% off discount on select items. At the moment, of course I was broke and it probably had to do with it being an off pay week or I may have purchased kicks already. I did things like that while working for Foot Locker, cop kicks right when I get paid so it was like I was working for free in a sense.
Anyway, for this 50% I allowed a co-worker to use my discount as a way to hook up a few people but in return I would get some of the profit.
It then hit me, why not continue this and see how much I can actually make. Come to find out after checking the exemption list the Air Jordan 7 Retro ‘Cardinal’ was not on the list so I thought to myself, I made just enough using my discount to reward myself. So of course I copped them.
Like Ice Cube would say today was a good day, made a few sales, worked the early shift and I got a free pair of sneakers. You know I was hype but then I thought to myself – did a lot of thinking that day, quite unusual – why not make a quick stop at the House of Hoops on 34th street to see what kicks they have for the 50% off.
So while I am in there I spot the Penny 3’s and for those who really know me, should know Penny’s are probably my favorite sneaker along with KD’s and Jordan’s of course. So I asked a female associate if the ‘Ripstops’ were excluded from the discount and she told me yes. Now from experience and I mean this with no disrespect but when it comes to certain female sneaker store associates they usually have no idea what they are talking about.
A manager then intervenes and informs me that they are on the list of kicks eligible to be discounted so I made the decision of returning the ‘Cardinal’ 7’s and using the money to buy these.
I had no idea they would be on the shelf at HoH but as I said the purchase was one that I was not expecting to make and I am glad I did. I honestly don’t ever see anyone talk about this specific colorway or have I ever seen them on foot in pictures.
Unlike the ‘BHM’ Air Jordan 3’s I wish I never sold, this pair right here I definitely will never sell and as you can see they have been worn, I mean that is what kicks are for right?
