Hey do you know what day it is??? That commercial never gets old to me. Well to answer the question it is Wednesday again and so, that means Wear Your Kicks Wednesday is the only thing that matters.
If you haven’t done so already, show us what sneakers you guys are wearing via: twitter using the hashtag #WYKW.
Anyways lets get into this weeks submission for Kickin’ It With Def Pen: Wear Your Kicks Pt. 25. Damn we are half way to 50 and a quarter century in, LOL. Pardon me for being optimistic here.
Last week Wednesday we saw a familiar face in Ant (@Ant_Sheppard) who decided to share with us another story of his on a pair of sneakers that mean a lot to him. Nike LeBron 9 ‘Cannon’. If you happen to have missed this, check it out before moving onto this weeks entry.
Today we have a story from J. Arroyo or known as @FreeMasonJon via twitter. Jon shares with us a story of his Air Jordan 2 Retro ‘Black/Chrome’ a pair I wish I could get my hands on now. Lets see what he has to share with us in regards to this classic sneaker,,,,
Where do I begin? My love for Jordan sneakers began when I was a middle school kid. It first started when my god brother passed me a silver suitcase, which was the Jordan 17’s that were released in 2002. This changed my life forever as the love for Jordan had just begun. Although those Jordan 17’s were very appealing, another pair of Jordans caught my attention.
They were the Black and chrome Air Jordan 2 Retro that released back in 2004. I don’t know where to begin when it comes to the design of this perfect shoe but its craft definitely caught my attention. Maybe it was the all black suede or how it has the all black leather snakeskin on the side or maybe even the 3M lining coming down across the shoe. Who am I kidding it was all of the above. When this sneaker first released I wasn’t able to purchase item and I was very disappointed that I missed out on this sneaker but that didn’t stop me from trying to obtain them.
Six years went by and Jordan finally released the Air Jordan 2 retro again in 2010. I had been waiting for this moment for years as I already missed my opportunity before with the 2’s back in 2004 so I knew I had to do what it takes to acquire this sneaker.
Although Jordan finally released the Jordan 2’s again it was to no prevail as he released the Air Jordan Black and White 2 color way and not the black and chrome. I was a little disappointed at first but I didn’t let that discourage me. During the year my sister-in-law had introduced me to ebay, which changed my life for the better. I began my hunt for the Jordan 2 ‘s and became very successful with my search. I had found a deadstock pair with OG box and laces. I clicked the buy now button and the sneakers were on their way. Once I received the shoe I fell in love with them all over again and sat there in amazement as I finally purchased the shoe of my dreams.
