Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Baaaaack. It has been a while ladies and gentlemen but we had to come back this Wednesday for a special feature.
Now you guys know the routine by now especially since we’ve been doing this for 5 months. So before we get into the 21st edition of Kickin’ It With Def Pen, I just need to thank those who continued to participate in the #WYKW hashtag even after the series stopped for a brief period.
Don’t forget we do have something planned to take this thing to another level just wait on it.
Now to our feature presentation, this week we have someone who we’ve been trying to share a story of her collection for some time now. Introducing the one and only Kayce. She took the time out to share a brief story about something some of us could relate to, the Air Jordan Retro 11 and 12 Pack.
I honestly don’t have that crazy of a story, and I don’t mean to sound cocky or anything, but I’ve never waited in line for a pair of J’s, it was never that serious to me. If I wanted a shoe I would just wait, and if I got it I got it if not oh well.
There was the one time, I HAD to have the packages (11’s & 12’s). I wanted them really badly but I was in Hawaii at the time for school, and they don’t really get kicks like that, ESPECIALLY the island I was on. I remember calling my dad the day before they were released like “please please please can you go get these shoes for me, it’s all I want for Christmas, you don’t gotta get me anything else..” He was like “are you serious? they’re just shoes, you don’t need anymore anyways”. I swear I damn near cried, especially because my dad is a sneaker head as well, he has more shoes than me..it’s where I got my addiction from.
Anyways, I remember him calling me from the mall the day they came out and he was like sorry they’re all out. (this was still when you could go to the mall and just get shoes the day of, next day, etc and it wasn’t a craze..) again, I damn near cried (laughs).
Christmas Day comes, and we’re opening our last gifts, and my dad leaves the room. (not gonna lie I was a little bitter I ain’t get the shoes) only to come back 5 minutes later with my packages in hand. I’m definitely a brat for this story but it was worth it.
Be sure to follow Kayce on Twitter & Instagram as she tends to show off her kicks from time to time.
