Saturday Night Live is set to begin its 48th season on October 1, 2022 with a number of special guests. Leading the way, Miles Teller is set to host the season premiere and Kendrick Lamar will step in as the musical guest.
Miles Teller is riding high following the success of Top Gun: Maverick. With Tom Cruise in the leading role and Teller playing Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, the highly-anticipated sequel has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far. Teller also starred alongside Jurnee Smollett and Chris Hemsworth in the Netflix thriller, Spiderhead. Moving forward, Teller is expected to appear alongside Aubrey Plaza and Jenny Slate in The Ark and the Aardvark.
Kendrick Lamar has also experienced great success throughout the year. In May, Lamar released his fourth studio album, Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. The 18-track project featured BLXST, Summer Walker, Ghostface Killah, Sam Dew, Taylour Paige and many others. The album topped the Billboard 200 Chart and received critical acclaim. Currently, the Los Angeles native is on a world tour with pgLang artists, Baby Keem and Tanna Leone.
On October 8, 2022, Brendan Gleeson will step in as the host of Saturday Night Live while WILLOW will serve as the musical guest. Gleeson recently appeared in the second season of the British TV series, State of the Union. Meanwhile, WILLOW is set to release a new album called <COPINGMECHANISM> on October 7, 2022. Released through Roc Nation, the 11-track project will feature Yves Tumor.
Closing out this round of announcements, Megan Thee Stallion will perform double duty as the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live on October 15, 2022. The 18-track project featured Lucky Daye, Future, Latto, Jhené Aiko, Pooh Shiesty and Key Glock. It moved 63,000 units in its first week and debuted at number four on the Billboard 200.
